Student Activities

The Law School recognizes that law advocacy as a profession is served by a well-rounded preparation of the student, not only in academic training, but also in activities that approximate the legal climate to which the student will be exposed when he becomes a lawyer. Thus, it permits the operation of a self-governing student body that undertakes to promote the interests of the law community in the school. The student council is an elective body, and the students are given the opportunity to give meaning to empowerment by selecting their own leaders in an exercise that closely simulates the electoral process in the country. In turn, the council sponsors activities that aim to foster a strong sense of loyalty to the University and to the pursuit of the law profession. It sponsors the annual rites of honoring successful bar examinees of the University. It also coordinates and finance bar operations, an activity that seeks to help and assist graduates who are taking the bar examinations. Beginning with the school year 2001-2002, the student council plans to undertake various campus activities that will highlight the focus of legal education. This includes moot court competitions, essay-writing contests, the publication of a law student' journal, and other similar activities that serve the purpose not only of promoting academic excellence but also student camaraderie and unity.
