GMA VISITS JOSE RIZAL UNIVERSITY

In line with President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s strong push for Education, Employment, and Environment, her Excellency visited Jose Rizal University on February 2, 2010 to inspect the JRU AdEPT (Advanced English Pre-Employment Training) classes.  This is also in recognition of JRU’s Autonomous Status and Center for Development in Management and Business Administration awarded by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). JRU has garnered praise from the President as well for being among the most affordable and accessible universities that offer excellent education.

Jose Rizal University has always worked diligently to uphold its commitment to all its stakeholders – “We care about good education.”  Together with the Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations (COCOPEA) and Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPA/P), the AdEPT program was created and developed as an academe-industry response to the needs of the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sector with JRU being heavily involved in the first pilot classes.

The AdEPT programs are currently being run in 20 universities and colleges in the country.  JRU’s ongoing pursuit to raise the bar in terms of academic standards and to provide education of utmost quality and ensure the employability of its graduates has led to its participation in the design and implementation of the AdEPT program.

AdEPT is being offered as part of JRU’s Education towards Guaranteed Employment (EdGE) program that combines industry expertise with curricula responsive to a constantly changing global market. With call centers becoming more and more discerning about the skills of their new personnel, this 6-unit elective course on Call Center Fundamentals will provide students with the skills and credentials for quick mobility in the corporate structure.
