JRU offers a modified but enhanced Basic Education Curriculum (BEC) prescribed by the Department of Education (DepEd). The University’s deregulated status as granted by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) warrants it to offer its own curriculum, its sequence, and preferred medium of instruction.
To align the curriculum with the tenets of the school’s mission, JRU has invigorated its English program by increasing the number of contact time with pupils from 80 to 120 minutes for Grades I-III. Pupils in Grades IV-VI need to fulfill 100 minutes per day for English classes. Moreover, English has also been the prescribed medium of instruction for social studies.
The curriculum design also puts particular focus on Science and Math, which with English, forms the core of the ES Curriculum.
The ES values education program is delivered through Good Manners and Right Conduct. The school appropriates which values pupils need to imbibe, complementing what the Church and parents already teach them. After all, it is still the school’s social responsibility to build character traits of pupils.
